On Tuesday 30th November, 7 x year 13 A Level Business students took part in the annual Draper’s Den competition in London. Along with their Teacher, Mrs Glover they have been celebrating their success!

The brief for this year was to create a commercially viable and sustainable product/service that will help reduce pollution; protect the environment; reduce pollution; reduce carbon footprint or reduce climate temperature.

The students’ team, Team Scribble, created the O-Pen (Ocean Pen). It is a 100% recyclable pen made from Prevented Ocean Plastic. Most pens have to be dismantled in order to recycle most of it. Even then, the metal nib and innards aren’t recyclable.

The O-Pen is made from plastic bottles that have been collected from the ocean and processed into reusable plastic flakes that can be easily manufactured into other products. Not only does the O-Pen use recycled plastic, but it also uses more sustainable ink.

Team Scribble! “Write the right way”.

They won a lovely trophy, £5000 and a place in the Livery Company Finals at Mansion House on the 1st February 2022 – Congratulations!

Team Scribble students: Kiera Kavanagh, Emily Watts, Lowri Tune, Jack Barton, Shannon Montane, Louise Jeavons and Holly Warner.
