Last week, we welcomed former sixth form student, Lucy Smith, back to the school. Lucy studied A Level Textiles, Art, History and English at The Thomas Adams Sixth Form and then went to the University of Manchester. Lucy graduated from Manchester School of Art with a Textile Design degree in 2018.
Lucy talked to our current Textiles and Graphic Design Year 12 and Year 13 students about her journey. After leaving University, Lucy discussed how she gained work experience, going for job interviews, the knock-backs, internships, jobs and travelling. She also brought along her amazing portfolios to show the students her beautiful designs.
Lucy has designed prints that can be found in Next, Primark, Matalan, Dunelm, Asda, B&M and many more! Alongside her career in Textiles, Lucy has also worked on commissions for various clients as gifts and advertisement.
Lucy is now a freelance print textile designer and an illustrator. Check out her designs on her website https://lurose-studio.com/
