A group of 14 Key Stage 3 students from Thomas Adams attended the Shropshire Teenage Book Awards Ceremony yesterday afternoon. The event was held at Concord College and was organised in conjunction with the Shropshire School Library Service.
The 2019 shortlist of young adult books featured work from top authors including Michael Morpurgo, Elizabeth Laird and Sita Brahmachari.
All students had previously been encouraged to read the shortlisted books and vote for their favourites.
Our group of students listened to three amazing authors who attended the ceremony from the shortlist; Beverley Naidoo, Sita Brahmachari and Elizabeth Laird. The inspirational authors talked about their journeys in becoming published authors.
The Mayor of Shrewsbury also attended the ceremony to present the awards.
Congratulations were given to Sir Michael Morpurgo with ‘Private Peaceful’ as the overall winner.
The event was a huge success with our students, who are all avid readers and budding writers, enjoying the afternoon and being great ambassadors for Thomas Adams School.
