It’s been another successful year for our DofE participants.

Over 40 pupils celebrate as they are awarded their certificates and badges on completion of either the Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award!

For the first time in several years, we were able to offer the Silver award to students. It was also the first time we had canoeists!

From Monday 10th to Wednesday 12th July, 2 groups of year 10 and 11 students completed their DofE Silver qualifying expedition canoeing from Atcham to Arley down the River Severn. The expedition including wild camping at Buildwas and camping on the pitch at Bridgnorth Rugby Club. All students passed with flying colours, despite some challenging weather conditions.

At the same time, 3 groups of year 10 and 11 students completed their DofE Silver qualifying expedition walking down Wenlock Edge to Arley, beside the River Severn, through Ironbridge. Everyone camped overnight on the rugby pitch at Bridgnorth. An awesome effort from all students showing resilience and perseverance!

Students who completed their Dof E Bronze expedition completed a walk from Grinshill to Wem, dodging the rain!

The DofE was designed to challenge young people between the ages of 14-24 to attain standards of achievement and endeavour in a wide variety of active interests – to serve their communities, experience adventure and to develop and learn outside the classroom. Congratulations to all students who have been presented with their award by the Headteacher this term.
