The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME)
Students enjoyed the practical element of the workshop. Year 11 student Charlie saying “ I enjoyed the army talk today because they made it interactive with being able to build the vehicles. It was also good how they gave us a backstory on what they have done and told us what we are able to do in our time at the army”.
Grace says “Personally, I found it really enjoyable and found out so many interesting things that are in the army that I didn’t realise were there. For example, I had no idea about the mechanical engineering side. I am doing mechanical engineering for my work experience now seeing this is a part of the army. As well as the travelling side, I will definitely either love to have this as my future career or very strongly consider it”.
Year 11 student Calum added “It was an amazing insight into what life could be like if I was to join the Army. The two people who came in were very kind and helpful and it was a good experience to talk to them”.

Music in the Military
Thank you to Guy Booth, both a parent and ex-military Musician for coming in and talking to our Year 10 GCSE Music students about the careers and the importance of music in the military.
Hereford, Ludlow and North Shropshire College
On Thursday and Friday, we welcomed representatives from Hereford, Ludlow and North Shropshire College to discuss the new T Levels available to school leavers. T Levels are vocational, technical and hands-on, lasting two years and are equivalent to three A Levels. T-Levels include a mixture of classroom-based learning and industry placements. Students can gain both practical skills and knowledge.

Careers Fair
Finally, to round-up our Careers Week we are holding a Careers Fair on Friday 15th March in the Stanier Hall. All year groups will have the opportunity to talk to Universities, local employers, training providers and colleges about future opportunities and the world of work.
Overall, National Careers Week has been a great success. We were very fortunate to have some excellent guest speakers who came to school to deliver inspiring talks and offer valuable career advice.
Thank you.
