A new modular building designed to offer additional support for pupils struggling to access the classroom will open at Thomas Adams School in Wem in the new year.

The state-of-the-art spaces consist of a warm and welcoming classroom base, equipped with technology designed to ensure all abilities are catered for. There will also be a dedicated space for regulation and engagement, plus several meeting rooms.

The work of our dedicated team can now take place in a purpose-built department, offering increased space for one-to-one or group work to promote engagement and inclusion. In addition, the building offers an increased capacity to facilitate access to other agencies. These include Educational Psychologists, Targeted Early Help, The Neurodiversity Practitioners and our healthcare partners such as Social Prescribing and the Mental Health Support Team.

Rowena Turner – SEND Manager says: ”We are excited to move into our new space, which will expand our provision for students struggling to access the classroom. The education system is experiencing an increase in the complexity of barriers faced by young people. We are incredibly grateful to be in the position to offer this inclusive new space to better meet these needs.”

Mark Cooper – Headteacher added “This is a really positive development for the school, adding to our ability to support/help/assist/aid all students in achieving their full potential. At a time when young people are faced with increasing and complex challenges, I am pleased that we are improving our provision to support their needs.”

“This project coincides with the launch of our new school vision. “Growing Together, Fulfilling Potential”.

We are working hard to inspire everyone in the school and its wider community to grow together and to support each other in achieving their full potential in the future.
