The Oswestry Youth Music Festival, in its 47th year, saw a record 525 entries involving about 1,000 young musicians from 40 schools across Shropshire and North Wales. The festival featured 88 competitive classes ranging from solo instrumental and vocal to orchestras, rock bands, choirs and musical theatre ensembles, and five new classes were introduced this year for singers aged 13 and under.

Our talented Thomas Adams singers had a great few days representing the school.

We had great results from Ewan Johnson, Jed Godfrey, Louisa Lee and Joe Munro in their solo classes. Louisa and Joe also came 2nd in the duet competition.

Sophie Meredith came 1st in the U18 Musical Theatre competition which took her through to the final on Sunday to compete for the Oswestry Town Council Cup.

Sophie also came 3rd in the Pop/Easy Listening and she won the Two Contrasting competition.

Thomas Adams School also won in the Ensemble competition, their rendition of ‘Bring Him Home’ was stunning with the adjudicator admitting they reduced her to tears.

Congratulations everyone!
