Sixth Formers have been brushing up their cooking skills in preparation for their time ahead of Thomas Adams Sixth Form.
Ben Wilson, Education Lead and Chef from local community food centre, OsNosh, delivered some exciting cookery lessons to Year 13 students over two workshops.
OsNosh started with community meals during the Covid-19 pandemic and turned surplus food in to meals and grocery boxes. Now a sustainable community project and working with local producers, every week they deliver dishes to people in need. They also save food from going to waste and share their culinary knowledge with ways to cook up tasty and nutritious food for pennies.
Our eager Sixth Formers prepared, cooked and presented a healthy chicken stew with homemade flatbread, with accompanying tzatziki sauce, halloumi and garnishes, all from scratch!
Ben talked about batch cooking, sourcing ingredients, cooking seasonally and eating healthy, all whilst on a budget.
A great time was had by all with some superb results with everyone sitting together to enjoy their meal.
