Every week, a small number of science students come together in the library to help pick the winner of The Young People’s Book Prize.

Thomas Adams School is one of 450 judging panels across the UK to receive a free set of the shortlisted books. It’s a great opportunity to receive six brilliant books aimed at enthusing and exciting children about science. It also supports the writing of excellent and accessible STEM books for under 14-year-olds.

Each judging panel mirrors the shortlisting panel, electing their own Chair, holding judging meetings, discussing the merits of each book and submitting their vote and comments. All participating groups have an equal say in deciding the winner.

The results from all the groups are then collated by The Royal Society to determine the winner. The winner is announced in January 2023.
